Productive Friday in Tasmania for Brad Jones Racing

Brad Jones Racing has enjoyed a handful of top ten times across the two practice sessions on the opening day of the Tasmania Super 440.

Andre Heimgartner led the way though he does feel like there is more to come from the car as the weekend progresses.

The R&J Batteries driver finished the two session in fifth and fourth.

Jaxon Evans (SCT Motorsport) has continued his upward form recording a ninth and 13th but was hampered by traffic on his late warm-up lap in Practice 2.

While Bryce Fullwood had his work cut out for him today on older tyres, he was a lot more comfortable in the car in  Practice 2, setting  a lap good enough for 12th.

The Pizza Hut Racing Camaro, with a special Karate Kid livery was 11th in the first session at the hands of Macauley Jones.

Action continues tomorrow with Qualifying for Race 11 at 9:05 am AEST.

On the other side of the garage, Cody Gillis is searching for a bit more in the car after finishing both practices in 21st.

Qualifying  kicks off at 10:40 AEST on Saturday.

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

"Overall, it was a solid day. Finished fifth in the first practice and finished fourth in the second, which was alright. It’s super tight out there but the car feels solid, so looking forward for tomorrow and having a proper go. It’s always intense here — so it all comes down to the little details; braking that last couple of metres and not making mistakes. I'm feeling good about it."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Shure Racing Camaro

“The first session didn’t quite start off on the right foot for us and we’ve got limited tyres this weekend. So we spent most of the day on some average ones. But once we switched to greens at the end of the session, the car really came alive and it was much better. Still a bit to work on for tomorrow but I’m excited to see what the weekend brings.”

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

"Practice 1 felt okay but in Practice 2 we tried a few changes in different areas and it didn’t really work out so we will go back to the drawing board on that. The good news is it looks like our cars have decent pace — we just need to reset and go again for qualifying tomorrow."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

"Today was good. Always nice when the weather’s good — sunny conditions here in Tassie with no rain around, so that’s a bonus. We had two practice sessions and finished P9 and P13 - I was pretty happy with that. I felt like we had decent car speed, just didn’t quite maximise that last new tyre run in Practice 2.. Overall; I think we’re in a good spot heading into the weekend. Tomorrow’s when it counts so hopefully we can qualify well and set the tone from there."

SUPER2 QUOTEBOARD

Cody Gillis
Super2 driver, #9 Bennett's Petroleum ZB Commodore

“Not a great day here in Tassie. The track being so small everything is so close and every little bit matters. Definitely have some driver stuff to work through and we will tweak the set up a bit for tomorrow and see how we go! Massive thanks to Bennetts for coming on board this weekend, the car looks mega.”

Brad Vaughan
Super2 driver, #80 Dormer HVAC ZB Commodore

“Positive day today. Was coming to grips with the track in Practice 1 and finished up 15th for that session. Wasn’t too bad for our first go. Second session was a bit better after looking at some data between the sessions and finished up 9th. Hoping to make some more gains overnight and come out strong in qualifying tomorrow.”
