Strong Saturday in Tasmania for Brad Jones Racing
Bryce Fullwood claimed his second podium with Brad Jones Racing in the first race of the Tasmania Super 440.
Fullwood qualified fifth and after a lightning fast pit stop was catapulted into a podium position, he held out and came home in third.
A strong qualifying position in the second race unfortunately didn’t convert for the #14 Shure Racing driver.
In the earlier part of the race he was bullied backward and lost multiple positions on the first few laps.
Fullwood finished Race 12 in 14th.
While Jaxon Evans recorded two top tens across Saturday.
He showed some serious speed in qualifying and managed to nab 6th and 9th for the day’s races.
The SCT Motorsport driver raced his way then to 7th and 8th, recording one of his best results.
Macauley Jones in the Pizza Hut Racing Camaro also pulled together an amazing qualifying lap for his Race 12 grid position.
Jones started out of fourth and held his nerve through the opening stanza, his crew also had a speedy stop to put him in the best position possible for the rest of the race.
Jones raced hard against Cam Waters and eventually had to concede the position.
He came across the line in 5th, which was his highest Supercars result as well.
Andre Heimgartner had some struggles in qualifying which put him further back than expected.
The R&J Batteries car finished Race 11 and 12 in 17th and 15th respectively.
There's one race left in the weekend for which qualifying starts at 9:35am AEST.
Super2
It was a better day for our Super2 duo Brad Vaughan and Cody Gillis with the drivers making progress after looking at the datasheets overnight.
Both drivers struggled with putting a lap together during qualifying but made up for it in the race.
Brad Vaughan took off from 16th and raced his way to 10th by the end of the first lap.
He avoided drama around him and finished the race in 5th.
Team-mate Cody Gillis had a difficult qualifying and started the race from 22nd.
The #9 Bennetts Petroleum ZB Commodore driver made his way through the pack crossing the line in 11th.
Super2 get one last chance at qualifying for Race2 at 9am AEST.

Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
"It was a tough day for us in car 8. We couldn’t get the speed out of it in Qualifying and that hurt us in the race. Overall, it’s frustrating but I’m happy for the team. Bryce got a podium, Macca finished fifth and Jaxon secured two top 10s—a great weekend for them. Let’s see if we can qualify better tomorrow and have some fun."

"It was a solid day for us in the 14 car. We qualified strongly in fifth for both races and came third in the first race - which was awesome. In the second race though, we dropped back a bit. We didn’t adjust the car’s setup enough for the different tyre compound and the car used its tyre heavily, so we lost ground. But it’s good learning and overall it was a good day."

Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro
“A bit of an up and down day. I felt like the first qualifying was frustrating and I felt like we had a lot of potential there but just didn't quite get the mark. However, we really turned it around for the second qualifying. As we've seen, qualifying is so important and sets up your race well - so I am really happy with that second race. We've got a really good crew and it's a lot of fun, so looking forward to tomorrow.”
Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro
“It was a really good day overall, with my best qualifying in Supercars. Race 11 this morning went really well — I came home seventh, which is my best race result in Supercars so far. Then in the last race, I started ninth and finished eighth, but I had a lot of fun out there. I was pretty happy to be inside the top ten in both races - so a big thanks to the whole team and SCT Logistics. We’ll dig into the data tonight and aim to come back strong again tomorrow.”

“Another cold day here in Tasmania. Quali wasn't very good this morning. We ended up down the back but a bit of luck went our way and we had a pretty good race car. We ended up gaining 11 spots both Brad and I. Not a too bad way to end the day. Definitely still a little bit to work on tomorrow. If we can qualify a bit better we know we can race at the front. Still a bit of work to do overnight and we'll see how we go.”

Super2 driver, #80 Dormer HVAC ZB Commodore
“Mega recovery in that one today to come from 16th to 5th. Sort of went zig when others zagged just went where everyone else wasn't. It worked out really well. Fifth is a really good recovery, good championship points. Tomorrow is a new day because we get to qualify again and hopefully qualify somewhere in that top five to make the shootout would be amazing. But anything is better than yesterday.”
