Strong start to Darwin Triple Crown for Brad Jones Racing

A strong showing for BJR has kicked off a warm weekend in the Top End with multiple top ten laps for the team across the two practice sessions in Darwin

Andre Heimgartner was fastest in the second practice session, with all four of the Brad Jones Racing cars inside the top ten.

The R&J Batteries Camaro at the hands of Heimgartner put in a 1:06.6309 in the last run of P2, putting him at the top of the time sheets.

Bryce Fullwood in the Middy’s Racing entry wasn’t too far behind, lodging a 1:06.7750 that had him fifth fastest.

It was a second time of the day that Macauley Jones put in a lap good enough for 10th fastest.

While Jaxon Evans chased car balance after the first session, the team are confident they’ve been able to sort that with Evans ending the day in 9th.

Cars are on track at Hidden Valley for qualifying from 8:35am ACST/9:05 AEST tomorrow.

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

"Solid day here ended up fourth and first. Really, really happy with that.  Some good direction going into tomorrow and a nice turn of speed for our car, especially. Looking forward to tomorrow. Nice to have a bit of pep in our step. Looking forward to I guess the qualifyings and try to maximize as much as we can."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Racing Camaro

"Really cool day here at home in the Middy's rocket. First practice, we needed to make some changes. I wasn't super happy with the car. The car rolled out much stronger for the second practice session today, which is really cool.  think we ended up fifth fastest. So, really happy with that all four BJR cards in the top 10 which was really cool. So yeah, I'm feling quietly confident for the minute, and really excited to see what we can do going into tomorrow."

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

"We did some race running, and it got very sketchy, but felt good on the green tyre. The car feels like it's got a solid balance. which represents in the times of BJR team. It'll be interesting to see what we have to do for qualifying and what times that will be achieved."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

"Nice to finally be on track. Practice one was a bit of a tough one for us. We tried something different car balance wise, and I wasn't super happy with it. So little bit down the order there. Practice 2 made some changes which were much more suited to my driving style or what we've been working on, so happy with that. Lucky enough to have two sets of green tyres and finished up P9 for the day. So, a bit more homework to do to catch Andre but we'll do that overnight, and hopefully have a strong qualifying tomorrow."
