Fullwood races to top ten in Tassie for BJR
Bryce Fullwood raced himself into the top ten in Race 17 at the Tasmania SuperSprint.
The Middy’s Electrical driver had been on the pace through the two practice sessions in changing conditions and was looking good come qualifying.
However the red flag in Q2 saw Fullwood unable to complete his fast run and end up 12th fastest.
The Darwin-born driver then had some work ahead of him in the 55 lap race, the crew opting for a rear-two-tyre stop near half race distance.
Fullwood made some moves to bring himself back into position and a late race pass on Ryan Wood to seal 10th.
Team-mate Andre Heimgartner meanwhile had a masterstroke of a strategy.
Having qualified down the order, also impacted by the red flag, the crew opted to stop late and fit four tyres to the R&J Batteries Camaro.
With the fresh rubber the Kiwi clawed his way up to 13th at the chequered flag.
Unfortunately he was then given a 15 second penalty for contact with Mark Winterbottom and he dropped back to 22nd.
It was a similar story for Jaxon Evans with the SCT Logistics entry.
Evans had a run-in with Jack Le Brocq during the race and was also given a 15 second penalty, meaning he recorded a 24th place finish as a result.
Macauley Jones in the Pizza Hut Racing Camaro had a tough opening few laps with a few incidents happening around him.
The #96 driver came across the line in 19th.
There’s a full reset tomorrow with Qualifying (12:50) and Race 18 (15:05) on the cards at Symmons Plains Raceway.

Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
"I'm feeling a little bit better today. The car's a bit speedy. Enjoyed the race, made lots of good passes, and unfortunately, me and Winterbottom had a bit of a tangle at the end and got a penalty. But on the plus side the car was really speedy, so feel like we had something for once."
Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Electrical Camaro
"Good day here in Tasmania. Started off with practice, which was really strong. I think we were fourth in the wet, which was cool. And then in qualifying, we just didn't quite put our best foot forward with the red flags and stuff like that. It's a bit of a shame, but we qualified 12th and come 10th in the race. So it's good to pass a few cars. We definitely have some work to do for tomorrow. But all in all pretty good weekend here so far."
Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro
“Can’t say that’s the result that we wanted from today but looking across the garage we know the cars have some speed. We’ll look into that overnight and see what we come up with for tomorrow.”
Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Logistics Camaro
“It was a pretty tough day today. Getting the penalty certainly didn’t help but it is what it is. We go again tomorrow. We’ll delve into the data tonight and try and find something to hopefully get a better qualifying result.”
