Tough luck for BJR on Saturday in Perth
Brad Jones Racing has had a tough Saturday at the Perth Super 440, however Bryce Fullwood again was able to score himself a top ten result.
Race 15
Fullwood in the Mr Umami Racing Camaro was ninth on the grid for both Race 14 and 15, but after getting boxed in during the start of the latter race fell back in the pack.
His team decided to run late into the race before coming to the pitlane and with some fresh rubber he was able to move forward and claimed 13th at the flag.
Team-mate Andre Heimgartner however was pushed off the road at the first corner, ruining his race.
The #8 R&J Batteries Camaro sustained damage from the contact and while Heimgartner finished the race in 22nd it was a difficult afternoon for the Kiwi.
Jaxon Evans in the SCT Motorsport Camaro faced even worse luck, with a failure ending his race on lap 29.
He had had a great run until that point and was leading the BJR pack.
Macauley Jones is trying to find the balance in the car but finished in 20th, something the team will investigate overnight.
Race 14
Fullwood led the charge for BJR in the day’s earlier race, qualifying 9th and coming across the line in 8th.
It was difficult for the other three to make in-roads over the 50 lap race, though Heimgartner’s crew tried with a four-tyre stop.
The #8 R&J Batteries Camaro wasn’t really able to get around those ahead and finished in 21st.
Jones followed him home in 22nd.
The SCT Motorsport Camaro finished where it started, in 18th.
Qualifying for the final race of the weekend kicks off tomorrow at 11:00am AWST/ 13:00 AEST.

Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro
“Very tough day, started with qualifying down the back and then just couldn't really turn it around and got contact at the start of the last race. Bent the steering and yeah, just couldn't do much. So try and reset for tomorrow. Go home, relax, just a bit of a mental reset and see if we can come back and rebound tomorrow. It's my birthday, so surely something's got to happen.”
Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Mr Umami Racing Camaro
“A lot of positives to come out of today. Qualifying was pretty good. I feel we made a big step overnight with the car. We got an eigth in the first race, and then the last race to come 13th. We got a really bad start, got really bounced in the first lap, just an untidy race. I think the speed of the car is really quite good. So, I think some small tunes for tomorrow and really looking forward to seeing what we can do with it.”

Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro
“Pretty tough day at the office, I felt like we didn't find a great balance in the car all day. Got a bit of work to do tonight. This event's all about qualifying and so tomorrow we're going to have to move forward. Felt like the car was very loose in both the races and we're gonna work hard tonight to sort it out.”
Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro
“Rolled out for quali after some setup changes overnight that we sort of thought was going to be in the window and unfortunately not quite the way the track responded. Unfortunately found ourselves starting 19th for the first race. Made some improvements in the second quali, so we lined up 13th for race two today, which was a good step forward. The first race on the softs was a bit tough. Couldn't really move forward and finished 18th, I guess that was sort of the nature of the race. Follow the leader, people couldn't really do much. And then in this afternoon's race, running pretty well. We were sort of in the top 15, close to top 10. Was getting confident with where the car was heading in terms of balance across the race. And unfortunately, after the pit stop we had a wheel fall off two laps into that stint and that led to a DNF. Unfortunate way to end the day, we'll reset as a team and pick ourselves up off the canvas and try again tomorrow.”
